16 September: Self-Directed Support in Europe
A one-day conference to explore the state of self-directed support in Europe and strategies to encourage further progress.
EASPD, Centre for Welfare Reform, ANFFAS, KVPS and In Control Scotland invite you to this conference in Brussels.
Self-directed support (SDS) is a system to organise the help people need so the person has as much control as possible. It aims to improve the lives of people with social care needs by empowering them to be equal partners in decisions about their care and support. For example: SDS allows people to choose how their support is provided and gives them as much control as they want of their individual budget.
The conference will:
- provide an overview of the state of play on self-directed support in different European countries
- showcase the training materials developed by the EU-funded SKILLS project on SDS for different stakeholders
- open discussion on how to help take things forward
